Civil Engineer (EIT)

Job Summary

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepares engineering plans, design calculations, specifications, bid documents and cost estimates
• Counsels engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
• Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
• Captures and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
• Utilizes computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
• Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision
• Completes tasks efficiently by utilizing time to complete tasks accurately, on time, and within budget
• Visits sites regularly and attends meetings with clients/contractors as needed
• Communicates with project team members, client representatives, and others as appropriate to the project

Requirements

• Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Civil design experience in roadway, grading, drainage, utility, and site development projects
  • Knowledge of local and state design standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of engineering and data analysis techniques and theories
  • Capable of working independently or within a design team
  • Professional communication with the project team, government agencies, and clients
  • A positive attitude and strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, with the ability to learn updated software
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and similar engineering software
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive company information
  • Has a high level of customer service delivery
• Education And Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in the design of civil engineering projects
  • Must have an Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) certificate or ability to obtain within one (1) year of being hired
  • Must obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or New Mexico within two (2) years of being hired

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at times
• Ability to work extended hours as required to meet client, project, and/or business demands
