Job Summary
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares engineering plans, design calculations, specifications, bid documents and cost estimates
- Counsels engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Captures and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Utilizes computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
- Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision
- Completes tasks efficiently by utilizing time to complete tasks accurately, on time, and within budget
- Visits sites regularly and attends meetings with clients/contractors as needed
- Communicates with project team members, client representatives, and others as appropriate to the project
Requirements
- Required Skills and Abilities:
- Civil design experience in roadway, grading, drainage, utility, and site development projects
- Knowledge of local and state design standards and procedures
- Knowledge of engineering and data analysis techniques and theories
- Capable of working independently or within a design team
- Professional communication with the project team, government agencies, and clients
- A positive attitude and strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, with the ability to learn updated software
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and similar engineering software
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive company information
- Has a high level of customer service delivery
- Education And Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in the design of civil engineering projects
- Must have an Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) certificate or ability to obtain within one (1) year of being hired
- Must obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Texas or New Mexico within two (2) years of being hired
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds at times
- Ability to work extended hours as required to meet client, project, and/or business demands
