Civil Engineer

Activities will be performed remotely. Computer equipment (computers and peripherals) will not be provided. Travel to work sites and site visits may be required as needed. Work arrangement: Service contract (work only on days requested by the supervisor).
About the role
The Civil Engineer (Budget Specialist) will support the review of design and construction activities, ensuring that projects are on budget and meet the highest quality standards. The role incorporates best practices in technical design and construction management throughout the entire project cycle, maintaining strict compliance with Health, Safety, Social and Environmental (HSSE) standards and Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) requirements. The incumbent will demonstrate strong technical expertise, proactive resource management, and the ability to ensure integrity, transparency, and effective coordination among stakeholders in all civil engineering activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support in the analysis of engineering project budgets, suggesting adjustments to documents when necessary.
- Support monitoring of project recipients, providing technical assistance in budgeting and planning of engineering projects.
- Assist in reviewing all documents related to projects and project licensing.
- Propose technical solutions for the execution of works for food storage units.
- Support project execution to ensure compliance with standards, regulations, and plans, including safety and health plans, environmental plans, social actions, and quality plans.
- Participate in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation meetings when requested.
Requirements
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related fields, with 2 years of relevant experience, OR a master’s degree (or equivalent) in project budgeting or related fields.
- Desirable: Recognized professional certification or membership in a civil engineering association at national or international level.
Experience
- Required: Relevant experience in budget engineering, planning engineering, or related areas.
- Desirable: Work experience in multicultural environments or in United Nations system organizations in developing countries. Experience in development or humanitarian contexts is also desirable.
