About the Role
Axial Energy is seeking a talented Civil Engineer with experience in utility-scale Solar PV and/or Substation projects to support major power infrastructure projects throughout the United States. The successful candidate will be responsible for civil and structural engineering design, site development, and project support activities from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop civil engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Prepare and review site grading, drainage, stormwater, and foundation designs.
- Perform structural calculations and design for foundations, steel structures, mounting systems, and related infrastructure.
- Review substation and switchyard layouts for constructability and compliance.
- Support earthworks, geotechnical evaluations, and site development activities.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and assist with cost optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop project design criteria and deliverables.
- Manage design revisions and communicate changes to project stakeholders.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards and industry codes, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Support permitting, zoning reviews, environmental assessments, and site planning activities.
- Participate in feasibility studies, due diligence reviews, and project development efforts.
- Assist with technical proposals, bid evaluations, and contractor/subcontractor reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- PE license Required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil engineering design for:
- Utility-scale Solar PV projects, and/or
- High-voltage substations, transmission, or power infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of:
- Site grading and drainage design
- Earthworks and geotechnical considerations
- Foundation and structural design
- Construction methods and feasibility studies
- Experience supporting projects within the United States preferred.
- Solar pile design experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
