Civil Engineer

Overview

Performs designs and other tasks of engineering projects by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities

• Motivated, self-starter that can independently lead a professional design team to provide general engineering services.
• Team player that can aid in the development of junior engineers and senior designers.
• Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
• Responsible for the preparation of project specific construction specifications and construction administration.
• Prepares due diligence studies, construction documents, bid documents, reports, technical specifications (MasterSpec and SpecsIntact), plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and permit applications for projects.
• Uses company and discipline department computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• Must be proficient in the use of personal computers.
• Assists in supervising, coordinating and checking the work, as well as instructing, leading and mentoring Engineer Levels I, II, and III, and Designers and Drafters.
• Develops engineering proposals, level II scopes of work, and agreements for assigned projects within the department.
• Prepares forecast of workload and resources for assigned projects and/or department.
• Prepares and monitors project budgets.
• Has overall responsibility for the profitability of his/her projects.
• Prepares estimated percent complete versus financial percent complete to track progress.
• Ability to develop a financial cost to complete to ensure project meets financial goals.
• Responsible for meeting project schedules, timely completion and quality of assigned projects.
• May serve as a project manager or project engineer on assigned projects.
• Should be active in professional trade organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university and minimum of six years’ experience in civil engineering.
• Possess a Professional Engineering License in the State of Florida with the ability to obtain NCEES.
