Civil Engineer 1/2 - Design Team

General Statement of Duties

The Engineering capital projects team has recently divided into two design focused groups and a construction focused group. This position will be filled on the design focused side of the Team.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college or university, with major course work in Civil Engineering, or related field(s).
• License or Certificate:
  • Civil Engineer 1: Possession of a Fundamentals in Engineering (EIT) certificate.
  • Civil Engineer 2: Possession of a State of Oregon Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer, or ability to obtain by reciprocity within 6 months of hire date.
• Experience:
  • Civil Engineer 1: Two years directly related civil engineering experience.
  • Civil Engineer 2: Five years of professional civil engineering experience including one year of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to the design and construction of public works infrastructure improvements.
  • Methods, materials, and techniques used in the construction of public works and utilities projects.
  • Modern developments, current literature, and sources of information regarding engineering and construction.
  • Principles of advanced mathematics and their application to engineering work. Engineering design and drafting software.
  • Principles of supervision and training. Public contracting law.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

What to Expect from our Selection Process: Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training. The selection process varies according to the position and can include such things as screening of supplemental questionnaires, written or skill tests, ability or fitness tests, interviews, and assessment processes. In addition, background investigations and records checks may be required. Some positions also require applicants to have a psychological evaluation and/or physical examination and a drug test prior to employment. Marijuana use is evaluated consistent with current state law regulations.
