Civil Eit

About the role

As a Civil Engineer in Training (EIT), you will collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, designers, and survey professionals to design site development plans for residential projects ranging from large-scale subdivisions to custom developments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a team of engineers, project managers, designers, and survey professionals to develop site development plans for residential projects.
• Perform civil design tasks for land and site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools.
• Interpret and utilize data and information provided by field crews to prepare accurate construction documents and plans.
• Draft and prepare survey certificates and other supporting documentation in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the design of grading, drainage, utilities, and other site infrastructure components for residential developments.
• Review and refine design plans to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards and client expectations.
• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure timely completion of project deliverables and consistent quality of work.
• Support senior engineers and professional land surveyors with design tasks, plan production, and revisions as needed.
• Participate in training and mentorship opportunities to develop technical skills and deepen knowledge of land development processes.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation to support efficient project execution and team collaboration.

Requirements

• Civil engineering experience with at least 2+ years of experience or equivalent internship experience.
• Hands-on experience in land development with at least 6+ months of relevant project exposure.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, with at least 6+ months of practical experience.
• Ability to perform civil design tasks related to site and land development projects.
• Experience or familiarity with residential site development and associated design processes.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or working toward EIT status.
• Ability to interpret and apply data and information collected from field crews to design construction documents and plans.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting, plan preparation, and documentation.
• Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work primarily in an office environment and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Skills

• Previous experience working specifically on site development and land development projects is preferred.
• Experience drafting and creating survey certificates or similar documentation is beneficial.
• Exposure to residential land development projects, including both large-scale and custom developments, is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn and develop under the guidance of professional engineers and registered land surveyors.
• Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and contribute to a variety of project types.
• Motivation to grow within a consulting environment and build a long-term career in civil engineering and land development.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based, with most time spent drafting, designing, and creating survey certificates and construction documents. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with some flexibility to support work-life balance. You will work alongside a small, experienced team that includes multiple professional engineers (PEs), registered land surveyors, EITs, LSITs, and several field crews operating during the summer months.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
