About the role
The Civil Design Engineer will join our growing southeast engineering team in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina. Under supervision and working with experienced staff, you will contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects, including Industrial & Commercial Land Development, Solar, Mining, and other engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Utilize Civil 3D, including alignments, profiles, and grading features, to produce engineered construction plans and sheet setups.
- Develop a basic understanding of site grading & storm drainage, erosion and sediment control, and stormwater best management practices.
- Create a variety of Civil 3D plans, maps, and exhibits.
- Work in conjunction with civil engineers and project leaders to develop engineering designs.
- Follow project schedules and allotted hours as directed by the project manager.
- Adhere to internal and/or client procedures and standards.
- Evaluate design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges.
- Perform site visits to scope jobs and coordinate with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others.
Requirements
- B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent.
- 0-3 years of experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred.
- Basic knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required; proficiency with Civil 3D is preferred.
