Civil Design Engineer
About the role
As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for preparing plan sets, which include drafting, designing, and managing storm water projects. You will regularly attend client meetings and develop project designs and construction documents using Civil 3D. Your role will also involve coordinating construction site inspections and observations. You will be responsible for all aspects of design and development for commercial and residential site designs, athletic facility improvements, and other civil-related projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare plan sets including drafting, designing, and storm water management.
- Attend client meetings to discuss project progress and requirements.
- Develop project designs and construction documents using Civil 3D.
- Coordinate construction site inspections and observations.
- Design and develop commercial and residential site designs and athletic facility improvements.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles.
- Experience in project management.
- Knowledge in commercial design, land development, stormwater, and site development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- EIT certification or the ability to pursue certification.
- 1-4 years of consulting experience.
- Aspirations to take on a project manager role within 3-5 years.
- Ability to coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
- 3+ years of work experience with AutoCAD & Civil 3D; educational experience counts.
Work Environment
The position is based in a satellite office located in West Des Moines, with several offices throughout the Midwest. You will work directly with the owner, sharing an open office space, and will often need to be a self-starter due to the quiet environment and minimal supervision. The role involves collaboration with other offices on various projects. The company is known nationally from its Minnesota branch and aims to grow the Iowa office to 8-10 employees in the next few years. Pay
The pay range for this position is $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
