Civil Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Civil Design Engineer to lead and oversee Land Development projects, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design of Land Development projects and provide leadership to junior staff.
  • Promote, establish, and assure quality on all projects and work performed by the team.
  • Assign personnel to project teams and manage project tasks and schedules.
  • Perform technical reviews of project documents and supervise junior staff.
  • Manage the production of technical calculations, conceptual and detailed design drawings for site plan, construction drawing, and permitting packages.
  • Research and prepare engineering reports for stormwater management, storm drainage, erosion control, and more.
  • Prepare local, state, and federal permit applications to support the project.
  • Assist Project Managers with project-related tasks.
  • Analyze technical problems, develop new techniques, approaches, and alternative solutions.
  • Ensure the QA/QC process is followed and maintain a focus on quality.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and technical staff to understand project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Participate in or lead team/project meetings.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
  • Conform to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a project engineer or engineering intern.
  • Valid NC Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel. Bluebeam REVU desired.
  • Ability to work independently and manage/schedule a team.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $80,000.00 - $125,000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position based in Durham, NC, offering a progressive work schedule with alternating 4-day work weeks.

This is a permanent position.
