Civil Construction Inspector 2

About the role

In the role of Civil Construction Inspector II, you’ll help make great things possible in your community and around the world by conducting and documenting construction observations for civil infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, record, and inspect progress on construction projects.
• Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing.
• Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil, highway, or appropriate engineering field, with at least one year in field inspection activities.
• Considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods, and procedures.
• Ability to maintain field and office records, perform complex quantity and engineering computations, and read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school or Associate degree.
• Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection.
• Ability to interpret construction schedules.
• NICET Level II Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction (preferred, except for those possessing a current PE license registered in CT or a BS in a relevant field).
• Local candidates preferred.

Pay

Rhode Island: $61,985 – $88,550 (depends on skills, experience, education, and geographical location).

Schedule

Full-time, regular position based in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.
