• About the role

Langan is seeking a Civil CAD Designer to join its collaborative team in Chicago, IL. This individual will serve a key function in assisting the planning and designing of civil engineering land development projects.

This role involves:

• Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects;
• Prepare the planning and designing documents of civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects in close collaboration with Project Engineers using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
• Perform zoning and other feasibility assessments for development projects;
• Perform field inspection services, as needed;
• Write and/or review draft reports, including feasibility studies, stormwater management reports, technical specifications, and utility reports;
• Interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives in close collaboration with supervisor;
• Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Demonstrated equivalent knowledge of engineering sciences or extensive AutoCAD/Civil 3D training;
• 3+ years of experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, drainage, and soil erosion is desired;
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal land use permitting;
• Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D design skills;
• Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
• Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
• Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Pay

Langan provides a competitive compensation package. The pay range for this position is $25—$35 USD per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is typically full-time. However, certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
