CIVIL CAD DESIGN TECHNICIAN

About the role

The position involves the production of Civil Plan Sets for Commercial Site Development and Public Roadway Projects using AutoCAD Civil3D. Cross training opportunities are available for Land Surveying Drafting.

Responsibilities

• Utilize AutoCAD Civil3D to assist engineers in the production of project drawings
• Design and drafting of engineering plans including alignments, profiles, cross sections, utilities, and general plan drawings
• Completing detailed drawings from rough sketches and/or verbal instructions or notes with limited direction from other staff
• Revising drawings and completing standard calculations used in the completion of engineering plans
• Creating/compiling project documentation using standard office software
• Performing internet-based or in-person project research
• Attending project meetings/field visits and communicating with project stakeholders as appropriate
• Performing other departmental tasks as directed by supervising engineer
• Conducting QC checks of work produced by self and by peers
• Ensuring schedules & productivity objectives for preparation of deliverables are reached

Requirements

• 1-3+ years of industry-related work experience in a professional capacity
• Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience (encouraged)
• Experience in Site Development, Land Development, and/or Transportation Projects
• Strong proficiency in Civil 3D; ability in Microstation, ORD, or other industry software (plus)
• Professional written & verbal communication skills, including the ability to proactively coordinate with outside parties
• Ability to identify & troubleshoot issues & problem solve accordingly
• Drive to meet or exceed aggressive deadlines while maintaining teamwork & collaboration with clients, team members & sub-contractors
