Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or related field.
- Three (3) years of supervisory work experience in cashiering, collecting monies and dealing with customers.
- Valid Texas Drivers License.
Physical Requirements And Work Environment
- Exposed to a variety of weather conditions such as: excessive heat, noise/intermittent, cold/inclement weather, and dry atmosphere.
- Exposed to outdoor elements with protective devices, such as: dust, fumes, smoke, gas, grease, oils, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces.
- Rotating shifts and working extended workdays outside the regular working hours (on-call).
- Capable of working closely with others.
- Able to work around moving vehicles/objects or around machines with moving parts/objects in a constantly noisy environment.
- Requires simple grasping, dual simultaneous grasping, standing, sitting, twisting, stooping, reaching above shoulders, climbing stairs, walking, light to moderate carrying up to 44 pounds, light to occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, must operate a motor vehicle, mechanical and office equipment.
- See, write, count, read, identifies shade of colors, depth perception, and hearing is needed to perform essential functions.
Supervisory Duties
- Supervises, plans, schedules, and assigns the work of Bridge Traffic Officers, Bridge Officer Collectors, and Building Maintenance Workers.
- Instructs and trains in the proper methods and procedures of the work to be undertaken; checks and approves such work and does performance evaluations on subordinate employees to ensure maximum productivity.
- Reviews and analyzes daily traffic reports to detect any improper management of traffic and advises management immediately of any improprieties.
- Maintains order in daily operations of bridge traffic and ensures its smooth flow.
- Prepares working schedules for traffic personnel, Bridge Officer Collectors, and Building Maintenance Workers.
- Maintains inventory for traffic officer supplies and equipment.
- Supervises proper traffic flow to ensure smooth movement of both commercial land vehicular traffic through the bridges.
- Checks all equipment to ascertain its proper working condition.
- Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Investigates causes of accidents on bridge premises and completes necessary reports regarding the same.
- Oversees the collection of tolls at all international bridges that are collected by toll collectors and cashier/tellers.
- Verifies that daily deposits are completed and sent to the bank through the use of an armored car service.
- Handles all emergencies that arise during the operations of the bridge system.
- Fills out any forms pertaining to the employees of the Laredo Bridge System such as (Workman's Compensation, annual leave, sick leave, annual evaluation appraisals, etc.) which need to be submitted to City Hall and/or attached to employee time card.
- Affords assistance in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors and other business contacts.
- Must follow all rules of telephone courtesy in all telephone communications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
