City Planner

About the role

This is a highly responsible professional position in the Community Development Department’s Planning Division. The role involves coordination with City staff, contractors, developers, land use professionals, the City/County Planning Commission, other governmental agencies, and the public as part of the department’s management team.

Responsibilities

• Process site plan reviews, zoning petitions, annexation applications, variance petitions, comprehensive plan amendments, and conditional use applications
• Present to City Council
• Supervise the Senior Planner
• Prepare the division’s budget, special projects, studies, and reports
• Oversee historic preservation, downtown redevelopment, and river preservation
• Develop and maintain the Land Development Code and Level of Service Standards

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Community/Urban Planning or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
• At least 5 years of planning experience in a public planning organization
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field
• Valid Florida Driver’s License

Qualifications

• American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred

Pay

$90,000 – $115,000 per year
