About the role
This is a highly responsible professional position in the Community Development Department’s Planning Division. The role involves coordination with City staff, contractors, developers, land use professionals, the City/County Planning Commission, other governmental agencies, and the public as part of the department’s management team.
Responsibilities
- Process site plan reviews, zoning petitions, annexation applications, variance petitions, comprehensive plan amendments, and conditional use applications
- Present to City Council
- Supervise the Senior Planner
- Prepare the division’s budget, special projects, studies, and reports
- Oversee historic preservation, downtown redevelopment, and river preservation
- Develop and maintain the Land Development Code and Level of Service Standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Community/Urban Planning or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- At least 5 years of planning experience in a public planning organization
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
Qualifications
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification preferred
Pay
$90,000 – $115,000 per year
