City of Morganton: Electric Lineman III

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform advanced journey-level technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical lines.
• Perform a variety of complex secondary and hot primary high-voltage line work.
• Provide leadership to a crew of workers.
• Assign work to crew members.
• Inspect completed work for quality and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.
• Train and mentor other line workers.
• Apply standardized techniques and practices used in power line construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Perform both overhead and underground line work.

Job Requirements

• Thorough understanding of standardized techniques and practices used during power line construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience with both overhead and underground line work is valued.
• Graduation from high school.
• Training in electrical principles.
• Considerable, progressive experience as an electric line technician.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license.
