This position will direct, manage, supervise, and coordinate the programs and activities of the City Clerk’s Office; to manage the registers and papers belonging to the City; and to keep an accurate record of all proceeding of the City Council and other City boards and commissions. Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a highly organized and knowledgeable municipal professional with strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of public records, open meeting laws, and legislative processes. They excel at managing official records, accuracy of public meeting agendas and minutes, coordinating elections, and ensuring full legal compliance.This individual is an effective communicator who works well with elected officials, staff, and the public, handling sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion. They are a proactive leader who improves processes, mentors staff, and maintains a high standard of transparency and service. The ideal candidate is committed to upholding the integrity of the City’s records, supporting effective governance, and delivering exceptional customer service to the community. Minimum RequirementsSix years of increasingly responsible managerial, supervisory, or administrative experience in the fields of records management, office management, or a related field, preferably in municipal government; including two years of managerial or supervisory experience.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, or a related field. A combination of formal education and directly related work experience may substitute for the degree. The City assesses 1.5 years of full-time experience as equivalent to one year of education.Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Notary Public License.Possession of an appropriate, valid Certified Municipal Clerk Certification is desirable.
