About the role
Registered Nurse position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Carthage Area Hospital Medical Center in Ogdensburg, NY.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, administering treatments and medications as prescribed.
- Operate and manage ICU-specific equipment, including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Document patient progress, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic medical records.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
- Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
Requirements
- Current, unrestricted New York State RN license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred.
- Minimum of one year of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
