About the Role

A Registered Nurse in the Cancer Treatment Center delivers specialized, compassionate patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Strong emphasis is on psychosocial support through patient teaching and interpersonal communication. This nurse interacts with a population of chronically ill, long-term patients and must perform technical skills repeatedly with scrupulous attention to detail. Patience and a sense of humor are critical to patient/staff relationships. Also serves in a consultant role to nurses providing oncology services in an inpatient setting. Due to the isolated nature of clinic practice, demonstration of ongoing professional growth is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized, compassionate patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation).
• Provide psychosocial support through patient teaching and interpersonal communication.
• Perform technical skills with scrupulous attention to detail for chronically ill, long-term patients.
• Serve as a consultant to nurses providing oncology services in an inpatient setting.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional growth.

Requirements

• Current N.Y.S. RN license.
• Active BLS certification (must maintain throughout employment).
• ONS certification within 90 days of position start date.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of Medical-Surgical, CCU, ED, or other relevant nursing experience.
• Oncology experience is highly preferred and will be prioritized during the interview process.
• Proficiency with intravenous insertion and accessing venous access devices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan, with the ability to individualize plans and delivery of care.

Preferred Credentials

• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification.
• ACLS certification.

Pay

Pay range: $41.19-$58.37 per hour. The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
