About the role
The Chiropractor provides a broad range of outpatient clinical services consistent with VA policy, clinical privileges, and accepted chiropractic standards of practice. This position operates within the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, but may operate at CBOCs when appropriate.Responsibilities
- Assessing patient medical conditions through medical-history review, patient interview, and physical examination.
- Analyzing posture and spinal alignment.
- Providing musculoskeletal therapy and performing spinal and joint adjustments using manual techniques.
- Ordering, reviewing, and evaluating imaging (e.g., x-rays) related to musculoskeletal conditions.
- Delivering adjunctive treatments such as heat or cold application for injured or symptomatic areas.
- Counseling patients on health, lifestyle, sleep hygiene, exercise, and injury-prevention strategies.
- Referring patients to other medical specialists when clinically indicated.
- Participating in subspecialty-related projects or initiatives that support service-line or strategic goals.
- Following departmental and VHA policies for leave and attendance, working within Title 38 appointment guidelines.
- Teaching trainees when appropriate.
Requirements
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- 5 years experience, integrative health experience, Geriatric experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Chiropractic, or its equivalent, resulting from a course of education in chiropractic.
- Two years of full-time chiropractic practice or its equivalent.
- A 3-year full-time post-graduate residency program from an accredited U.S. chiropractic college, as evidenced by documentation of completion, is acceptable in lieu of 4 years of practice.
- Demonstrated professional competence and performance necessary to provide independently the full range of clinical diagnosis and chiropractic treatment for the most prevalent neuro-musculoskeletal conditions including subluxation complex.
