Chinese Multidisciplined Language Analyst / Language Analyst Development Program (LADP) - Entry to Experienced Level (MD, HI, GA, UT)

About the role

NSA's Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), play a crucial role in the Intelligence Community by analyzing, transcribing, and translating foreign language materials. They contribute to the SIGINT mission, helping U.S. policymakers and military leaders understand foreign language worlds and cultural contexts.

Responsibilities

• Offer insights to U.S. policymakers and military leaders through the analysis of key information in foreign languages.
• Research and understand other cultures and their operations within the broader geopolitical landscape.
• Develop and apply innovative solutions to complex analytic problems, such as integrating large datasets and diverse information sources.
• Create written and oral assessments that offer unique perspectives unavailable from other intelligence disciplines.
• Work independently and collaboratively, both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community.

Requirements

• Minimum language proficiency of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 2/2 in reading and listening in the target language.
• Relevant experience in professional work, military service, teaching, or analysis, or non-language work in fields such as intelligence analysis, international relations, security studies, journalism, law, STEM, or other topics pertinent to NSA's mission.
• Education: High School Diploma/GED, Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or Doctoral degree, with appropriate experience.
• Experience levels: Entry, Full Performance, and Senior, with varying years of experience and educational attainment.

• Able to synthesize information to solve complex problems.

• Desired coursework and knowledge in areas such as target development, social network analysis, metadata analysis, research methodology, topical/regional studies, quantitative/statistical analysis, data modeling, cyber security, computer science/networking, telecommunications, etc.
• Relevant internships, extracurricular activities, and/or foreign study experience.
• Prior military experience with language analysis cryptologic experience.
• Experienced Level Language Analysts at NSA typically have experience in language quality control, serving as SMEs, authoring/releasing reports, mentoring/coaching, ensuring mission technical health, mastering/coaching others on tools, testing ILR 3/3 levels, and demonstrating broad knowledge of the Intelligence Community.

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package offered by NSA, including paid travel for testing, depending on the availability of testing sites. The position offers a salary range of $50,460 - $187,093, based on education level and years of experience relevant to the position. Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.

• Work Schedule: Full-time position, Monday - Friday, with a basic 8-hour/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
