Chinese Multidisciplined Language Analyst / Language Analyst Development Program (LADP) - Entry to Experienced Level (MD, HI, GA, UT)
About the role
NSA's Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), play a crucial role in the Intelligence Community by analyzing, transcribing, and translating foreign language materials. They contribute to the SIGINT mission by offering insights into foreign language worlds, researching cultures, and developing innovative solutions to complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Offer U.S. policymakers and military leaders a window into the foreign language world by analyzing, transcribing, and translating key information.
- Research and understand other cultures, their operations, and their place in the geopolitical context.
- Apply new techniques and develop creative solutions to address analytic problems, such as synthesizing large volumes of data and disparate sources of information.
- Craft written and oral assessments that provide unique insights unavailable from other intelligence disciplines.
- Work independently and collaborate effectively (both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community) in research, analysis, and reporting.
Requirements
- A minimum language proficiency of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 2/2 in reading and listening in the target language for which the applicant is being considered.
- Relevant experience in one or more of the following: performing professional work in the language (translation, transcription), military, teaching, and analysis; or non-language work in fields such as intelligence analysis, international relations, security studies, intelligence studies, journalism, law, STEM fields, and other topics relevant to NSA mission.
Qualifications
- Minimum language proficiency of ILR level 2/2 in reading and listening in the target language for which the applicant is being considered.
- Full Performance: High school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or Doctoral degree and no experience.
- Senior: High school diploma or GED plus 10 years of relevant experience, or Associate's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or Doctoral degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
- Salary range: $50,460 - $187,093 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior).
- Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.
- Benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
- Work schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, with basic 8-hour/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
