About the role

NSA's Linguists, known as Multidisciplined Language Analysts (MDLAs), play a crucial role in the Intelligence Community by analyzing, transcribing, and translating foreign language materials. They contribute to the SIGINT mission, helping U.S. policymakers and military leaders understand foreign language worlds and cultural contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Offer insights to U.S. policymakers and military leaders through the analysis of foreign language materials.
  • Research and understand other cultures and their operations within the broader geopolitical context.
  • Develop creative solutions to address complex analytic problems, such as synthesizing large volumes of data and disparate information sources.
  • Provide timely and accurate assessments to support strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community.

Requirements

  • Minimum language proficiency of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level 2/2 in reading and listening in the target language.
  • Relevant experience in language work, analysis, or related fields such as intelligence analysis, international relations, security studies, journalism, law, STEM, etc.
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED, Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or Master's/Doctoral degree.
  • Experience: Entry: High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience, Associate's degree + 2 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree + 3 years relevant experience, Master's degree + 1 year relevant experience, Doctoral degree + no experience. Full Performance: High School Diploma/GED + 7 years relevant experience, Associate's degree + 5 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree + 3 years relevant experience, Master's degree + 1 year relevant experience, Doctoral degree + no experience. Senior: High School Diploma/GED + 10 years relevant experience, Associate's degree + 8 years relevant experience, Bachelor's degree + 6 years relevant experience, Master's degree + 4 years relevant experience, Doctoral degree + 2 years relevant experience.

Benefits

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary range: $50,460 - $187,093 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior).
  • Training will be provided based on the selectee's needs and experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
