About the role
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Commercial Chiller Service Technician with demonstrated extensive experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing chilled water equipment and the systems and controls associated with them. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the motivation to work with and mentor other team members, using advanced skills in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Service, perform maintenance on, and repair all commercial industrial chillers using necessary service literature.
- Perform new system start-ups and repairs on air conditioning and chillers.
- Work on direct expansion constant volume, multiple circuited/compressor AC equipment.
- Maintain and repair water-cooled AC units up to 100 tons.
- Service water source heat pumps and associated equipment.
- Handle computer room type units with self-contained humidifiers and controls.
- Work with non-BAS, pneumatic, electronic, and modular DDC temperature controls.
- Maintain water and air-cooled chillers equipped with centrifugal, reciprocating, scroll, and screw compressors.
- Troubleshoot electronic controls incorporated with most packaged water chillers.
- Service electronic variable speed drives connected to VAV air handlers, pumps, towers, etc.
- Work with electro-mechanical motor starters up to 480 volts and associated controls.
- Maintain chilled and condenser water pipe and pump systems equipped with variable speed drives.
- Diagnose and repair systems using electronic/variable speed starters and digital temperature control systems.
- Utilize the BAS system to diagnose and repair system problems and components.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of chiller service experience in a commercial or industrial setting.
- EPA universal certification preferred.
- Experience with RTU, air handlers, split systems, chilled water, VAV, and fan coils.
- Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude.
- Mechanical aptitude, mathematical, and English language skills.
- Compliance with and promotion of company Safety Policy.
- Self-motivated, driven, and able to work independently without supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional demeanor and positive, caring attitude.
- Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop, and comfortably lift up to 60 lbs.
- Proficiency in electrical and mechanical diagnostics.
- Familiarity with blueprints, schematics, drawings, and other equipment layout materials.
- Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening.
- Ability to pass a physical ability test.
