Chill Tank Operator 3rd Shift

About the role

Hourly manufacturing position – Chill Tank Operator – 3rd Shift (10:30 pm‑7:00 am, Monday‑Friday) at Kraft Heinz, Cedar Rapids, IA (4601 C Street SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404).

Plant overview: 3‑shift operation, non‑union facility with ~200 hourly staff (mix of temporary and full‑time). 100% food service, 4 bag soup lines, 1 tub line, 18 kettles, 5 filling lines, 4 packaging lines. Products include frozen soups and macaroni & cheese.

Company history: Kraft Heinz in Cedar Rapids started as Ashby Soups in the mid‑1980s by Jamie and Shannon Ashby and their mother, using family‑held soup recipes. Became Quality Chef Foods in the 1990s; acquired by Heinz in the mid‑2000s; Kraft and Heinz merged in 2015 to form Kraft Heinz.

Responsibilities

• Operate power equipment.
• Document bag temperatures.
• Stage totes in First‑In First‑Out order.
• Basic understanding of HMI operation.
• Communicate with Onpack operators / Prepack lead.
• Identify quality concerns, illegible printing, or seal integrity issues.
• Communicate effectively.
• Work safely.
• Follow all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures.
• Computer skills (IQS).
• Pallet Jack operation.
• Implement Q‑RMP standards per accountability list.
• Troubleshoot chiller problems.
• Regulate chill tank speed via HMI to meet HACCP temperature requirements.
• Operate printer, Wexxar, Iconotech printer; understand pack configurations.
• Separate batches in totes.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Pay

Pay rate: $22.08 per hour.

Schedule

3rd Shift: 10:30 pm – 7:00 am, Monday‑Friday.
