Children’s Instructor
About the role
The Little Gym of Highland Heights is hiring a dependable, energetic, and professional Children’s Gym Instructor. This is a part-time position with the possibility of full-time hours. Coaches lead movement-based classes for children in a fun, safe, and structured environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach children’s classes using The Little Gym curriculum and lesson plans.
- Lead warm-ups, movement activities, gymnastics stations, games, music activities, and closing routines.
- Keep children safe by supervising closely, giving clear directions, and using appropriate spotting techniques after training.
- Help children feel welcomed, encouraged, and confident, including children who are shy, energetic, distracted, nervous, or new to class.
- Communicate warmly and professionally with parents before and after class.
- Set up and clean up class equipment before, during, and after programs.
- Assist with birthday parties, weekend events, camps, practice times, and special programs as needed.
- Learn class structure, child development basics, safety procedures, customer service standards, and The Little Gym teaching method.
- Support the front desk/team when needed by greeting families, answering basic questions, and helping maintain a clean and organized facility.
- Follow all safety, attendance, cleaning, parent communication, and team procedures.
- Be reliable, on time, prepared, and positive for every scheduled shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children required.
- Must be able to move actively throughout the shift, including bending, kneeling, lifting equipment, demonstrating movement, and assisting children safely.
- Must be professional, neat, punctual, friendly, and dependable.
- CPR/AED, First Aid, and Safesport training required within 30 days or before coaching a class.
Qualifications
- Enjoys working with children and families.
- Has experience in sports, gymnastics, dance, cheer, coaching, childcare, camp counseling, babysitting, teaching, or youth leadership.
- Can work day, evening or weekend shifts.
- Has strong communication skills with both children and adults.
- Can lead a group with energy, patience, and confidence.
- Is dependable and understands that families and children are counting on them.
- Is comfortable being active during the entire shift, including demonstrating basic movement skills.
- Can follow a lesson plan while still bringing warmth, personality, and enthusiasm.
- Works well with a team and is open to coaching and feedback.
- Can create a safe, positive, and encouraging environment for children.
