About the role
This position instructs children in activities promoting social, physical, and intellectual growth while maintaining safety and best practices in a child care setting.
Responsibilities
- Keeps areas of responsibility compliant with State of California, Dept. of Social Services, Title 22 policies and procedures.
- Serves as primary supervisor of children at all times.
- Maintains focus on the children and adheres to best practices for a child care setting.
- Develops and submits curriculum plans.
- Performs some housekeeping duties.
- Grows professionally through education and workshops annually.
- Trains co-teachers, assistant teachers, helpers, and volunteers as necessary.
- Directs daily activities of assistant teachers.
- Assumes responsibility of Center in absence of Director when designated.
- Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
- Complies with System policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education and experience based on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the Child Development Permit Matrix of Teacher.
- All coursework must meet the approved standards of Title 22 (101216.1).
- Minimum of 24 units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development (ECE/ED) required, including 3 units each in child/human development in growth and development, child/family/community or child and family relations, and program/curriculum.
- At least 16 units of general education.
- 175 days of 3 hours per day within 4 years of supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting.
- Current valid credential from the Office of Teacher Credentialing, Child Development Permit- Teacher or Master Teacher.
- Alternative qualification: AA or higher in ECE/CD or related field with 3 units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting.
- Employees working with children under 2 years of age require a minimum of 3 units related to the area of infants per Title 22 (101415.1).
Benefits
The position offers a $1,500 sign-on bonus and a referral bonus for current employees.

Rate of Pay: $27.95/hour + DOE
