Children's Center - Aide

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Keeps areas of responsibility in compliance with State of California, Dept. of Social Services, and Title 22.
• Maintains best practices for a child care setting.
• Opens communication with director, co-workers.
• Provides a nurturing environment.
• Affords assistance to teachers in supervising children and ensuring their safety.
• Affords assistance to teachers in creating a classroom that is appealing to children, safe, and meets the needs of the children as individuals and as a whole.
• Properly maintains, cleans, and stores toys, supplies, manipulatives, and equipment.
• Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care.
• Affords assistance with snacks and lunches as needed.
• Maintains floors, walls, doors, furnishings, and fixtures to keep the center clean, safe, and presentable.
• Supervises and encourages toileting and, as applicable, diapering.
• Grows professionally through education and workshops annually.
• Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
• Complies with System policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

• No educational requirement and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• PREFERRED: 3 units of ECE/CD or participating in an occupational program conducted by an accredited high school or college.
• Education and/or Experience are based on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for the Child Development Permit Matrix.
• All coursework must meet the approved standards of Title 22 (101216.1).
