Childcare Teacher Part-Time

Essential Job Functions

• Creates a safe client environment by performing all required security and safety procedures
• Aids in the client's orientation of treatment goals, program rules and structure
• Sends a written incident report in the event of unusual client behavior or activity while in DCCCA's care
• Maintains an orderly and appealing classroom that is a warm and safe environment in which children are allowed to grow, develop and explore
• Implements programs and activities that develop the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of the children
• Prepares materials, makes lesson plans based on a curriculum outline and follows approved activity plans
• Interacts with the children on their level and encourages child involvement in activities
• Observes, records and reports significant individual and/or group behavior
• Allows for parent input on program activities
• Establishes and maintains good communication with parents on a daily basis
• Uses appropriate, positive and consistent discipline that helps to maintain classroom order
• Maintains accurate records and files
• Informs co-workers, clinical and administrative staff of program goals/developments for children and parents
• Sets support staff responsibilities, changes scheduled daily activities and room arrangements as necessary
• Discusses both positive and negative child behavior and activities with parents
