Childcare School Age Head Teacher

About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic School Age Head Teacher to lead our before and after-school program in Beacon Falls, CT. In this role, you will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-aged children before and after school, plan enriching activities, and supervise a team of assistant teachers. You will serve as the primary point of contact for parents and school administration, ensuring a high-quality program that supports children's social, emotional, and academic development.

What You'll Do

• Plan and implement daily age-appropriate activities, including homework help, arts and crafts, and recreational games.
• Supervise school-aged children to ensure their health, safety, and well-being at all times.
• Lead and mentor assistant teachers and program staff.
• Maintain open and professional communication with parents and elementary school staff.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive guidance techniques.
• Ensure the childcare facility meets all Connecticut state licensing and safety regulations.

Requirements

• State of Connecticut School Age Head Teacher designation or eligibility to obtain it.
• At least two years of experience working with school-aged children in a licensed childcare setting.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications, and current administration of medication certifications, or willingness to obtain them immediately.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in ECE or Child Development.
• Knowledge of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) licensing regulations.
