About the role

The White Earth Reservation Business Committee is seeking a qualified candidate to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for children, while providing direct supervision in the implementation of curriculum for children enrolled at the White Earth Child Care Learning Center.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and cares for newborn through school age children in the White Earth Child Care Learning Center to ensure a safe, warm, nurturing environment in which children can grow physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually.
  • Develop and Implement daily programs that engage children in and promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts, crafts, music, storytelling, and active play.
  • Completes necessary curriculum progress reports.
  • Completes required documentations regarding diaper changes, food/intake, accident/incident reports, sanitizing, and disinfecting.
  • Communicates regularly with children and families through parent conferences, correspondences, visits, or phone calls for relationship building.
  • Ensures curriculum adequately provides varied opportunities for children's active participation, independent choices, experimentation, and problem solving within the structured setting.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Early childhood development, theories and practices related to children with special needs, infants, toddlers, preschool and school age children. Including emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and nutritional needs.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to follow and apply the policies and procedures of the White Earth Tribal Council and the Education department.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor others and set a positive role model for staff, children, and parents.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to deal with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous children.
  • Ability to understand and implement the duties of a mandated child maltreatment reporter.

Qualifications

  • CDA or AA in Early Childhood or (at least six courses in Early Childhood Development)
  • Minimum of one-year Supervisory skills.
  • Minimum of one-year working in Early Childhood.
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurance for travel between sites and other business-related destinations.
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Safe-Serve Certifications upon hiring.

Skills

Knowledge of and the ability to follow and apply the policies and procedures of the White Earth Tribal Council and the Education department.
