About This Role

United Day School in Beacon Falls, CT is seeking a qualified Childcare Head Teacher - Before/After School to work with School Age (5–12) in a after-school/ost environment. This position requires completed early childhood education college credits.

United Day School is a small center in Beacon Falls, CT. We believe children learn by doing. Our goal is to provide a warm, nurturing, engaging, and FUN learning environment for our preschool and school age students to help create a life long love of learning.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced school age head teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and be able to create a safe, fun environment for children in grades PK-5. The lead teacher must be able to maintain a positive attitude, work well and communicate with other staff members, and communicate effectively with parents.

What You'll Do

  • The Head Teacher is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the program.
  • Responsible for the care, education, supervision, and safety of all children in their care, as part of a teaching team, and functions as a team leader.
  • The Head Teacher plans and implements an age appropriate curriculum, and with active participation of other members of the teaching team, works with parents and assesses the needs of individual children.
  • Learns, implements, and ensures center and staff are in compliance with State of CT Licensing standards and program's policies.
  • Acts as liaison between program and elementary school.
  • Responsible for weekly attendance records, filing, keeping documents in order.
  • Works closely with Director.

Requirements

  • Approval by OEC as a school age head teacher.
  • At least 2 years school age head teacher experience.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • Clear understanding of OEC licensing requirements.
  • Must have or obtain (current) first aid, CPR, and medication administration training.
  • Must be able to successfully pass all security and background checks in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.

  • Must have personal qualities necessary to care for and work with children, work as part of a team and communicate with parents and other professionals.
  • Flexible schedule to work before and after school shifts approx. 6:25-8:30am and 2:30-5/6:00pm
  • Occasional 8:30-10:30 and/or 12:45-5/6 on delayed openings or early dismissal days
  • Must meet all requirements of CT OEC.

Benefits

This Childcare Head Teacher - Before/After School role pays $20 to $21.50/Hr.
