About This Role
United Day School is a small center with before/after school locations in Beacon Falls and Prospect, CT. We believe children learn by doing. Our goal is to provide a warm, nurturing, engaging, and FUN learning environment for our preschool and school age students to help create a life long love of learning. We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced school age assistant teachers to join our team.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safe play environment.
- Observe and monitor children's play activities.
- Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
- Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
- Sanitize toys and play equipment.
- Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
- Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children.
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls.
- Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
- Perform housekeeping duties, cleaning, dish washing, and sweeping.
- Help children with homework and school work.
Requirements
- Experience in childcare, before/after school setting required - 1+ year professional experience
- A clear understanding of OEC licensing requirements, and willingness to meet.
- Must have or be willing to obtain current first aid, CPR, and medication administration training.
- Must be able to successfully pass all security and background checks in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Must have personal qualities necessary to care for and work with children, work as part of a team and communicate with parents and other professionals.
- Flexible schedule to work before and after school shifts approx. 6:30-8:30am and 2:45-5/6:00pm
- Occasional 8:30-10:30 and/or 12:45-5/6 on delayed openings or early dismissal days
