Childcare Assistant Teacher

About the Role

The Childcare Assistant Teacher supports the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. You will create a safe and positive atmosphere in the Two-Year-Old classroom, welcome all children and families, and maintain a strong educational program in accordance with YMCA and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students and provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment
• Engage with children to encourage their development and involvement in activities
• Maintain maintenance records, including accident and incident reports, sign-in/out sheets, and attendance records
• Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director
• Use positive guidance to support children and follow DHS procedures
• Provide care for the needs of children and ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2,500 hours (2 years) of childcare experience preferred
• 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary, or related human services field education or 15 college credit hours and one year of experience related to childcare
• Current CDA certificate
• Must keep an up-to-date DHS file
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
