About the role
Oak Forest Academy is hiring Assistant Teachers for the Toddler age group. We are looking for individuals who believe school should be a place of engagement and inspiration, where all children feel loved and empowered to reach their highest potential. You should be persistently positive, flexible, and adaptable, with a charismatic presence that builds sincere rapport with young children and their parents.
Responsibilities
- Provide a nurturing, patient, and loving environment for all children.
- Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth tailored to each child’s unique needs.
- Evaluate and analyze each child’s development and progress, communicating results effectively.
- Partner with parents to provide the best care and education for their children.
- Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, and community contacts.
- Use a positive, restorative approach to discipline focused on emotional intelligence and meeting children’s needs.
- Maintain DFPS guidelines for Minimum Standards at all times.
- Possess a deep love for children and a strong commitment to building positive relationships within the community.
Requirements
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including maintaining composure under stress.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interact with students of all ages and skill levels.
- Committed to building a positive team culture.
- Pass required state and company background checks, including FBI fingerprinting.
- CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
- At least 18 years of age with 1+ year of early childhood experience in a professional setting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or a relevant field preferred.
- Physically able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and work indoors or outdoors.
- Able to assume postures at low levels for physical and visual contact with children, and engage in physical activity with them.
- Proficient in using desktop computers, associated software, and electronic tablets.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pay
$15.00 - $18.00 per hour, based on experience and education.
Schedule
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
