Healthy Kids Programs is seeking a Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Program at Cape May City Elementary School in Cape May, NJ. We're looking for someone who loves working with children and is passionate about creating an environment where kids can thrive.

This part-time, non-exempt position is ideal for individuals who enjoy building relationships, supporting student growth, and being part of a mission-driven team. The role is especially well-suited for:

  • Parents seeking a schedule that aligns with the school day
  • Education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience with children and classroom management
  • Retirees who enjoy staying active, mentoring children, and giving back to the community

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
  • Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
  • Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Must successfully pass all required state background checks.
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.

Pay

$16.00 per hour.

Schedule

Split shift with morning program hours varying between 7:00 - 8:45 am and afternoon program hours varying between 2:30 - 5:45 pm.
