About the role

Make a Difference Before and After the School Bell Rings! Healthy Kids Programs is hiring Childcare Assistants for our Before and After School Program at Columbia Middle School Taylor Campus in Columbia, PA for the 2026–2027 school year. If you love working with children, leading engaging activities, and being part of a positive, supportive team, you’ll help shape a safe and fun environment where kids can grow and thrive.

This position is especially well-suited for: Parents seeking a schedule that aligns with the school day, Education majors or future teachers looking for hands-on experience with children and classroom management, and Retirees who enjoy staying active, mentoring children, and giving back to the community.

Responsibilities

Assisting with the facilitation of hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic enrichment, art, and group activities
Assisting students with homework
Providing a safe, healthy, clean, and fun environment
Serving as a positive role model for children in the program
Arriving prepared and remaining on-site until the last child is dismissed
Communicating daily with parents and families via the Playground App
Following state regulations, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies
Supporting attendance tracking, registration, and staffing as needed

Requirements

18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or equivalent
2 or more years of experience working with children under 13
Must pass a full background check, including fingerprinting and reference checks
Must be medically fit to perform job duties which includes a clear TB
Warm, friendly, professional, and reliable
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs.

7:00 - 8:30 am & 2:45 - 6:00 pm
