Childcare Assistant – Before & After School

Part-time, non-exempt position at Montague Township Elementary School in Montague, NJ for the 2026–2027 school year.

About the role

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Program. This role is ideal for individuals who love working with children and helping them learn through play and positive experiences.

Schedule

Follows the school calendar.

• Morning Program: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM
• Afternoon Program: 3:15 PM - 6:30 PM

Opportunities may be available for morning, afternoon, or both programs.

Pay

$16.00 per hour

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities, as well as homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, which may include attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.

Requirements

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 (preferred).
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
