Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1)

About the role

The Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1) plays a crucial role in safeguarding children and families within the Department of Human Services. This position involves providing direct services to children, families, and communities affected by child abuse and neglect.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits and assessments to evaluate the safety and well-being of children and families.
• Provide counseling and support to children and families affected by abuse and neglect.
• Collaborate with law enforcement, courts, and other social service agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children.
• Develop and implement family preservation plans to prevent the removal of children from their homes.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding child welfare services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience working with children and families in a social service setting.
• Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.
• Experience with case management software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $4,954 - $7,592 per month.
