Position Summary

The Child Protection Case Worker is responsible for providing high-quality, individual case management services to children who have been harmed or are at high risk of violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This role involves identification, assessment, case planning, referral, and follow-up in accordance with Inter-Agency Case Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Principal Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify at-risk children (including UASC, survivors of GBV, and children with disabilities) through field outreach and community-based networks.
  • Conduct comprehensive, child-centered assessments of the child’s and family’s needs, emphasizing the "Best Interest of the Child."
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans with clear goals and timelines, ensuring the participation of the child and their caregiver.
  • Facilitate safe and timely referrals to specialized services (MHPSS, health, nutrition, or legal aid) using established inter-agency referral pathways.
  • Conduct regular follow-up visits (or phone calls where access is restricted) to monitor the child’s progress and safety.
  • Adhere to the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (CPMS) and the "Steps to Protect" approach.
  • Ensure strict adherence to data protection protocols and informed consent/assent procedures for all cases.
  • Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) and basic emotional support to children and caregivers in distress.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case files in the CPIMS+ (Primero) database or secure physical files.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly SITREPs (Situation Reports) by providing anonymized data on case trends and challenges.
  • Document "success stories" and lessons learned while maintaining beneficiary anonymity.
  • Support the establishment of community-based child protection committees to strengthen early identification and safe referrals.
  • Collaborate with other sectors (Health, WASH, Food Security) to ensure protection is mainstreamed across all emergency interventions.
  • Any duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related social science field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in child protection case management, social work, or humanitarian response in Gaza.
  • Proven experience working with vulnerable groups, particularly in emergency or displacement settings.
  • Strong understanding of CP case management steps (Identification, Assessment, Planning, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the Gaza-specific referral pathways and the CPIMS+ system.
  • Proficiency in Arabic (Native) and professional working knowledge of English (Highly Desirable).
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel, and data entry systems).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with children and adults.
  • Ability to work under pressure in highly insecure and changing environments.
  • Deep commitment to PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) and Child Safeguarding principles.
