About the role

The Child Placing Agency Specialist provides ongoing support services to foster families, including assisting with children placed within the home. Under the supervision of the Child Placing Agency Supervisor and in collaboration with other assigned staff, this role involves intake services, placement recommendations, and service planning.

Responsibilities

  • Carries an average caseload of 22 active families.
  • Accepts referral information regarding potential placements for children in care and matches them with foster families.
  • Conducts monthly home visits and reviews documentation on foster children.
  • Conducts monthly home visits for assigned active respite families.
  • Ensures each home is compliant with DCF regulations and completes home reports following visits.
  • Assists foster parents in accessing resources to meet foster child needs.
  • Ensures foster parents attend annual relicensing trainings.
  • Completes renewal processes and exceptions as necessary.
  • Conducts family assessments at the time of renewal licensing.
  • Updates Electronic Record System and openings list at least once weekly or upon request.
  • Facilitates support meetings and other activities for foster families regularly.
  • Tracks DCF Notice of Survey Findings (NOSF) to ensure compliance actions are completed and investigations are closed.
  • Tracks MVR reports to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Develops and tracks compliance action plans (CAPs) and/or safety plans with foster families as required.
  • Assists in recruiting new foster families and attends recruitment events.
  • Completes monthly reports documenting current behaviors of each child in assigned foster homes.
  • Provides 24/7 crisis and on-call support to assigned foster families.
  • Submits incident reports when appropriate.
  • Maintains good working relationships and facilitates communication with foster families, foster children, and collateral agencies.
  • Provides placement, respite, and discharge information via the childchange email for billing accuracy.
  • Approves foster parent payment reports twice a month after ensuring accuracy.
  • Conducts adoption home studies as needed.
  • Maintains regular contact with supervisor and strict confidentiality.
  • Attends monthly CPA meetings and in-person meetings.
  • Participates in foster family and child welfare conferences.
  • Conducts pre-service training for prospective foster and adoptive families.
  • Completes pre-service Summary/Recommendations and Strengths/Needs assessments.
