About the role
To assist in the preparation and serving of lunches on a time schedule and to monitor quality and quantity control of all food served; to assist in the coordination of cafeteria operations; to perform duties of cafe manager elementary in their absence.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and serving of lunches on a time schedule and monitor quality and quantity control of all food served
- Assist in the preparation of accurate reports and records
- Assist in the operation of computerized point of sale system
- Assist in regulating safety and sanitation procedures in the cafeteria
- Assist in the coordination of cafeteria operations
- Assist in the promotion and marketing of school lunch to students and staff
- Assist in the supervision of cafeteria personnel
- Assist in the ordering and production of food items
- Assist in the enforcement of district and Food & Nutrition policies
- Assist in providing quality customer service to students and staff
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform duties of café manager elementary in their absence
- Attend designated meetings and classes
- Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications
- High School education or equivalent
- Valid Arizona Driver’s license with proof of insurance and reliable transportation
- Must have Maricopa County Food Service Worker card
Preferred Qualifications
- One year experience in school food service preferred
- Experience in creative merchandising is highly recommended

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and to perform frequent reaching
- The role is based in an elementary school kitchen and cafeteria
- May begin work early in the morning to prepare for breakfast and lunch service
- Moderate to high due to kitchen equipment, student interactions, and cafeteria operations
- Frequent stooping, bending and lifting of up to 40lbs

Pay
- Base Hourly: $19.89
- Performance Pay: Available annually
- New Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum
- New Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position
