Child Life Specialist (Per diem) Surgical - Needham, MA

Position Summary

About the role

This role is a per diem position for a Child Life Specialist at our Needham, MA location supporting the surgical department. Minimum 2 shifts per month are required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences.
• Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Delegate work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
• Experience: 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
• General skills: Resolve problems using child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced-based knowledge.
• Communication skills: Well-developed writing skills and excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution.
• Licenses/Certifications: Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire.
