About the role
The Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn, and pediatric specialty hospital. It is recognized as the leader in women's, infant, and child care, offering 253 beds and delivering over 6,000 babies annually. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport, and high-risk perinatal care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct services to pediatric patients
- Coordinate educational programs
- Conduct professional in-services
- Assist the Child Life Services manager in assessing child life needs and providing input on program development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or related field
- Certified Child Life Specialist by the Child Life Council (must be obtained within six months of hire)
- Current American Heart Association Heart Saver – AED CPR card
- Completion of Child Life or Child Development internship, fellowship, or practicum of 480 hours
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or related field preferred
- Two (2) years experience as a Child Life Specialist in an acute care pediatric setting preferred
