Child Life-Specialist

Position Overview

The Child Life Specialist works as a vital member of the healthcare team to address the emotional and psychosocial concerns of pediatric patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Supporting families and patients adjusting to illness, injury, or loss in critical, acute, and ambulatory settings
• Assessing psychosocial, developmental, and cultural needs of patients and families
• Using developmentally appropriate interventions to educate, prepare, and support families, enhancing their coping skills
• Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to advocate for emotionally safe, family-centered care
• Creating a supportive environment that addresses emotional well-being and reduces anxiety

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
• Experience: 0–3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Certifications: ACLP Certified Child Life Specialist Certification required within one year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Additional Requirements: Completed or current enrollment in a Child Life Internship at a children’s hospital is mandatory to be considered.
