Child Development Specialist Lead (ECI)

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Child Development Specialist Lead to provide program-required training and mentorship to the CDS team while delivering Early Childhood Intervention Services to infants and toddlers (birth to 3 years old) and their families.

About the role

• Provides leadership to the Child Development Specialist team
• Coordinates, develops, and updates ECI Training, including annual mandatory training and quarterly in-service training
• Assists in supervising the work of others and assesses ECI training needs
• Conducts telephone interviews to process referrals and schedule initial evaluations and Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP)
• Develops initial IFSPs with team members and the family
• Assesses development for initial and annual eligibility and ongoing progress
• Schedules and reviews IFSPs every 6 months and annually
• Conducts chart audits to meet ECI policies and procedures and provides written audit feedback
• Provides Specialized Skills Training and Service Coordination to address developmental and family needs
• Documents all contacts and attempts electronically, complying with agency policy and ECI procedural safeguards
• Meets annual requirements to renew EIS Certificate and maintains accuracy of the EIS Registry
• Develops Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDPs) and monitors completion of ECI CSPD
• Provides mentoring visits to complete CSPD activities as needed
• Requires travel to a child’s home or other community sites and flexible working hours

Requirements

Education: Must have and maintain an active EIS certification. A Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields is required:

• Social Sciences: Psychology, Social Work, Sociology
• Health Sciences: Nursing, Rehabilitation Therapy
• Human Development and Family Studies/Family Sciences: Counseling, Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Life, Child Development (with infant and toddler emphasis), Early Childhood Education (EC-grade 6 or Pre-K-grade 3)
• Infant and Toddler Studies/Development: Child Life, Early Care and Early Childhood, Early Childhood Development, Early Childhood Special Education

Experience: 3+ years of experience working with children from birth to three years old.
