Join the Parks, Recreation & Libraries team as a Child Care Teacher. This is a temporary, part-time position with year-round employment.
About the role
Under immediate supervision of the Child Care Site Coordinator, you will plan, implement, and teach age-appropriate activities and programs for elementary-age children at assigned City child care facilities.
Schedule
- Weekdays between 6:15 a.m. and 6:15 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Limited to 25 hours per week
- Maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities for elementary-age children
- Teach programs at assigned City child care facilities
- Perform related work as required
Requirements
Experience and Training
- Minimum of at least three (3) hours per day for a minimum of fifty (50) days in a six (6) month period as a paid or volunteer staff member in a child care program, under the supervision of a qualified teacher
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher-level degree
- Twelve (12) units in early childhood education, recreation, elementary education, or related field, or six (6) units completed and enrolled in at least three (3) qualifying units per semester until twelve (12) units are completed
License or Certificate
- Possession of CPR and First Aid certificates within six (6) months of hire
Selection Process
- Applications meeting minimum qualifications will be scored in a Formula Rate Examination based on experience and education
- Scores determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List
- Supplemental questions used for interview and selection determinations
- Final appointment contingent upon:
- Check of past employment references
- City-paid fingerprint check
- Pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test (if applicable)
- License and/or education verification (if applicable)
- Psychological examination (if applicable)
- Extensive Police Department background check (if applicable)
- Some positions require Police Department background check clearance within 12 months of appointment
The City of Roseville defines an "accredited college or university" as one listed on the U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited Post-Secondary Institutions and Programs. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by an accredited U.S. institution or a member agency of NACES or AICE.
