About the role

At CHOP – Soar Autism Center, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and their families with a focus on those with autism. Our approach is nurturing and child-centered, offering a variety of services tailored to each child’s unique needs. We engage with children early and provide comprehensive support through play-based activities and programs.

As a Child Care Specialist, you will directly contribute to the growth of young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This entry-level role works with a team of experts, including Board-Certified Behavior Analysts, Speech Therapists, and Occupational Therapists. No prior certification is required; complete training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to children aged 2–6 in a clinic environment using science-backed, naturalistic therapeutic methods
  • Implement intervention plans created by expert clinicians in behavior analysis, speech, and occupational therapy
  • Collaborate with the child’s healthcare professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality care

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience with children aged 2–6, ideally in a professional setting
  • Ability to achieve and maintain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within the first 6 weeks of employment (paid training provided by CHOP – Soar Autism Center)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer and tablet literacy
  • Reliable transportation to both training location and local center; punctuality is essential
  • Ability to meet the following physical requirements: frequent sitting and standing, quick position shifts, lifting up to 50 lbs., extended floor sitting/kneeling, sitting in a chair, standing, walking, and occasionally running short distances to engage with a client
  • Preference for college graduates or those pursuing a college degree

Pay

$21.50 – $28.50/hour with regular bonus and promotion opportunities. Initial offer will range from $21.50 – $22.75. All staff are reviewed every three months for raises or promotions.
