Job Description/Summary
Provide Psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic impressions, and medication management under supervision of collaborating physician. This provider provides psychiatric and limited medical care to children and adolescents ages 5 to 21.
Responsibilities
- Counsults with collaborating physicians to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Conducts initial and subsequent psychiatric assessments in which provider evaluates, diagnoses, prescribes, and administers medication under the supervision of collaborating physician.
- Provides education on medication needs, dosage, administration, and potential adverse reactions to clients and guardians.
- Works effectively with the full spectrum of diagnosis disorders.
- Demonstrates clinical facility in psychotropic medication use, side effects and indications for psychiatric intervention, in children, adolescents (if a child prescriber) and adults.
- Initiates and evaluates diagnostic tests.
- Reviews client medications currently being taken and their efficacy, potential side effects, contraindications, and identification of alcohol and/or drug use as part of evaluation.
- Provides record keeping in an accurate and timely manner including up-to-date individual record of all medications, including nonprescription and non psychoactive medications, prescribed for and used by the person served including name of medication, dosage, frequency, instructions for use, and the prescribing professional shall be documented.
- Includes client, or their parents or guardians, in making decisions related to the use of medications and ensures medication consents are signed in a timely manner.

Qualifications
- Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and holds a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing or a related mental health field and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as either a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
- All required NJ Licensures, CDS and DEA etc.
- Experience working with child and adolescent patient populations required.
- Bilingual a Plus
