Chief Schools Officer
The Academies of Math & Science Impact Group is seeking a results-driven and mission-aligned Chief Schools Officer (CSO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. The CSO is responsible for the overall performance of all schools across the network, including academic outcomes, enrollment and retention, and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities
Own and drive academic performance across all schools, including proficiency, growth, and state accountability outcomes
Ensure consistency of performance across multiple states and school sites
Oversee student persistence and staff retention strategies across the network
Establish clear performance metrics and hold leaders accountable for results
Directly manage Directors of Schools and other senior instructional leaders
Build, coach, and evaluate school leaders to ensure high performance and alignment with network expectations
Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of future school and network leaders
Make strategic talent decisions to strengthen school and leadership quality
Oversee academic strategy, curriculum implementation, and assessment systems
Drive measurable improvements in student achievement, particularly in Title I communities
Drive partnership with academic teams to refine and strengthen instructional models
Oversee Special Education (SPED) programming across all states
Ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements
Build systems that support both compliance and strong academic outcomes for students
Partner with operational leaders to ensure strong execution across all campuses
Own student enrollment, retention, and family engagement strategies
Ensure schools are fully staffed and operationally prepared
Support development of strong school culture and family-facing systems
Qualifications & Experience
Proven success as a Principal in a Title I school environment
Experience managing school leaders (e.g., Director of Schools, Principal Manager, or equivalent role)
Demonstrated track record of:
- Strong academic outcomes within state accountability systems
- Increasing or sustaining student enrollment
- High staff retention and strong team performance
- Ability to manage performance across multiple schools or regions
- Strong analytical, leadership, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in charter school networks or multi-site leadership environments
- Experience working across multiple state accountability systems
- Oversight of academics, operations, or Special Education at scale
- Experience leading school turnaround efforts or scaling high-performing schools
